Travelling on wheels makes life much easier for us. However, it completely changes the way we perceive things. Moving at 40 km/h, we hardly notice things around us!
The kind of noticeable objects as well as impalpable experiences that grab our attention while taking a walk through the very same area belongs to an entirely different spectrum. This write-up elaborates the same.
Walking through an “urban village” in Hauz Khas, one notices not one but many captivating characteristics. The one which appealed to us the most can be explained by a term called REFLECTION – reflection of the environment around, reflections of what the space IS, reflection of what it WAS once, reflection of what it is GOING TO BE.
An extensive number of glass facades not only advertise the things displayed but also provides a breather to the otherwise narrow spaces.
The buildings are so close to each other narrowing the street within that the 3 storey high buildings look like tall structures. In this condition, one cannot help but notice the reflections falling on the glass facades. Looking at the buildings, more than the stuff displayed inside, one looks at the interesting reflections of the spaces across the street on it.
Reflection of trees widen the vision, reflections of areas across the street signify the evolution of an urban space from a village!
Also, apart from the buildings, every other material that one does not notice otherwise, reflects something in some way- even a coke bottle or the windscreens of cars!
It is an interesting catch to study how important these reflections are for a particular feeling of a space.
We, as a team will curate a walk somewhere in Delhi keeping in mind the most important feature of that specific area that will guide the people all the way from the starting to the end point solely on the basis of these observations!
